Details Matter

The challenge was working with artwork that carries centuries of history. Persian miniatures are small, detailed, and deeply layered, and bringing them into a modern magazine risked losing what makes them special. With heavy text and rich stories, the goal was to slow the layout down, protect the art, and create a reading experience that feels both respectful and inviting for today’s audience.

OUTCOME

The final magazine became a collectible piece that visitors wanted to hold onto, not just skim through. By balancing storytelling with visual clarity, Zarin Mag helped people connect more deeply with Persian art and history. It served as a bridge between the museum experience and personal reflection, giving readers something meaningful to take home, a small, beautifully crafted reminder of culture, memory, and the timeless world of miniature art.

REFLECTION

Creating Zarin Magazine reminded me how powerful it is to design with cultural memory in mind. Working with Persian miniature art taught me to honour the details, and let the stories shape the design instead of forcing the design onto the story. It helped me appreciate how typography, pacing, and image treatment can preserve history while making it feel alive for a new audience. This project grounded me in my roots and showed me how design can become a bridge, carrying heritage forward with care, intention, and beauty.
